Smeringopus pallidus  (Blackwall, 1858)

Description
Male

Male prosoma ochre-yellow with brown median and lateral marks, clypeus with pair of dark stripes, sternum brown, legs ochre-yellow to light brown, femora and tibiae with dark subdistal rings and lighter tips, opisthosoma ochre-grey with distinct dorsal and ventral pattern. Ocular area slightly elevated, deep thoracic pit. Chelicerae with small distal apophyses. Palpal coxa with small but distinct retrolateral apophysis, femur with wide retrolateral furrow, proximal rim slightly more distinct, cymbium with projection near tarsal organ, bulb with sclerotized embolus and distinctive dorsal process. Legs without spines, few vertical hairs, with curved hairs ventrally on tibiae and metatarsi I and II, retrolateral trichobothrium on tibia I at 2.5 %; prolateral trichobothrium present on tibia I.

Female

Females in general similar to males. Epigynum a simple, small oval to rectangular dark plate without pockets.

Additional information

This species of African origin is not native to Europe (alien species). It had been introduced into Europe and did not establish yet (Huber et al. 2017).
