Chedima purpurea  Simon, 1873

Description
Male

Leg formula: 4123

Carapace golden-red. Chelicerae reddish-brown. Palps and leg I reddish-orange. Legs II–IV light yellowish-orange. Maxillae light red. Labium and sternum golden-red (labium slightly darker). Opisthosoma light chestnut (lighter ventrally) with numerous, dense, small yellowish-brown spots.

Sternum shield-like with reticulation. Labium around 1.5 times as long as broad at base. Scopulae and well-developed claw tufts present. Tarsal claws very narrow. Paired claws with 1–2 tiny subapical teeth.

Carapace pale golden-red. Other coloration as in male.

Body length female: 5.8-5.9 mm
Additional information

Known  only from northern Morroco.

The presence of numerous cuticle thorns on coxa, femur, patella, tibia and metatarsus I, and structure of the bulb (with a long arched tegular process), Chedima has a resemblance to genera Scelidomachus and Scelidocteus. Chedima, however, lacks a uniformly coloured opisthosoma.
