Male palp with hammer-shaped median apophysis with pointed ends. Lateral apophysis shovel-like widened, prolateral end twisted to a tip, with distinct tooth in bulge. Tibial apophysis bipartite, ventral apophysis large, with strongly sclerotised edges and irregular shape, retrolateral apophysis broad and ending blunt in lateral view, longish in ventral view. Embolus with broad, feather-like tip, flanked by 2 wing-like structures and transparent distally.
Prosoma colour very variable (males overall darker). Laterally with broad, black stripes, median triangle large, posteriorly with distinct black spot, arc-like margined by bright stripes on both sides. Sternum beige to brown, partly brightened median and yolk-yellow to yellow-brown on margin. Chelicerae brown, both sexes frontally with one longer spine, females additionally with many small robust spines. Legs long and slender (females thick), coloured like opisthosoma. Opisthosoma distinctly patterned with light brown-ochre triangles on dark background. Spinnerets brown, bordered by a white line.
Body length male: 4.2-6.1 mmEpigyne with thin median septum, which is widened posteriorly. Longish, broad lateral plates on both sides of septum.
Body length female: 4.3-7.8 mmmountainous species, apparently confused with X. cristatus/audax
