Description
Male

Terminal apophysis of male palp with several spikes. Embolus hook-shaped. Epigyne posteriorly with 2 cone-like protruding lobes. Prosoma brown, margin and weak radial stripes darker. Males: with nose-like protruding clypeus. Legs red-brown. Opisthosoma dark grey-black.

Additional information

On tree trunks in damp forests of the low mountain range, also on twigs of conifers as well as in the herbaceous layer. Spins occasionally aggregative webs of several dozen meters size, with densities of up to 100‘000 individuals per square meter, thus large webs can harbour several million individuals.

Frequency: sometimes mass occurrence (Komposch & Natmessnig 2001)
